Do You Have A “Slipped Disc”

Ever had back issues? Ever felt like you could hardly stand up from sitting down? Ever grab your back due to muscle spasms? Think about having something called a slipped disc.

There are rings of tough fibrous tissue that makes up your discs. You have a lot of them in your back. The are different, because they have jelly-like centers that act like “ball bearings.”

That’s why you can move so well. These discs in your spine separate each vertebra, permit the natural curves of your spine and allow you to turn and bend easily.

Chiropractic care offers a natural, non-surgical resolution for many disc problems.

A disc can: thin (which is not a good thing), wedge, protrude or tear (which is really bad), but thankfully… they don’t slip!

Instead we see two types of problems with discs:

1. Bulging Disc: A weakened area of the ring allows the centers to bulge and put pressure on nearby nerves. Our chiropractic care can often eliminate the need for surgery.

2. Herniated Disc: The herniated or ruptured disc is more serious and commonly seen in the lower back. The disc’s soft center “pushes out” through an area weakened by trauma or degeneration.

Chiropractic care at this office is always worth trying before more drastic measures. Do you know someone facing disc surgery? If you do, be sure to send them to the office first.
