Occasionally, after an adjustment a patient will experience mild muscle soreness for a short time afterwards. As the body’s structure begins returning closer to its center of gravity, dormant and latent muscles which should have been working on your behalf are now coming back to normal function.
This is much like the soreness experienced when one hasn’t exercised for a long time and then begins a new workout routine. It is normal for a small percentage of patients to experience this form of a mild reaction to adjustments. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. Most patients don’t worry about a little soreness when they’re getting what we call a healing soreness.
